About Dumpling King

Located along Clement Street in San Francisco, Dumpling King is the kind of casual spot people stumble upon once and then keep returning to whenever dumpling cravings hit. The restaurant has a relaxed, no-fuss atmosphere that fits perfectly with the neighborhood, yet the food arrives packed with flavor and comforting warmth. From juicy steamed dumplings to crispy pan-fried favorites, the menu leans heavily into satisfying portions and rich homemade taste, making it a reliable choice for both quick lunches and laid-back dinners. Inside, the vibe feels lively but welcoming, with the steady rhythm of takeout orders, dine-in guests, and delivery pickups creating the energy of a busy local favorite.

One thing that makes Dumpling King stand out is how approachable the menu feels. Whether someone wants a fast quick bite after work or prefers sharing several small plates with friends, there is always something easy to enjoy. The dumplings naturally take center stage, though the restaurant also appeals to diners looking for vegan and vegetarian options without sacrificing flavor or texture. That balance between traditional comfort food and modern dining preferences gives the place a broad appeal across different tastes and dining styles.

The drink selection also adds another layer to the experience. Guests can pair savory dumplings with beer, wine, or even happy hour drinks while settling into the cozy dining room. Because takeout and delivery are available, the restaurant works equally well for nights when staying home sounds better than going out. Even during busy hours, the atmosphere keeps its casual charm, and the smell of freshly cooked dumplings drifting through the space makes it difficult not to order more than planned.

Really great food. I got the pork & cabbage boiled dumplings and the Chongqing style noodle. The noodles were excellent and the time from ordering to getting my food was surprisingly short. The dumplings were plump and juicy. I would like a bit more salt but with added chili oil they were great. Would definitely come back again for the noodles in particular!

One of my favorites in the city! Their food is fresh, great quality and SO good. The staff is super friendly and the ambiance is so cozy. We have been a few times and our favorites have been: hot and sour soup, bbq pork bao, sichuan spicy fried chicken & the custard buns. Definitely worth checking out!

We tried Dumpling King as it is one of the restaurants open later on Clement St, and were not disappointed. We were with my nieces, who can be quite picky and difficult to please. We ordered the salmon avocado fried rice, shanghai soup dumpling, kimchi & pork soup dumpling, shrimp & scallop dumpling, pan fried chicken pot sticker, and zhajiang mian. We all really loved the dumplings. My nieces especially loved the shanghai soup dumpling, but my partner and I preferred the kimchi & pork soup dumpling since it was slightly spicy. We also loved the shrimp & scallop dumpling, and wished we got another order since it only came with three dumplings. The pan fried chicken pot stickers were also very good, with the filling having a nice meaty and chivey flavor. I thought the zhajiang mian was pretty tasty, although my partner (half Korean) said the flavor was a bit different from a traditional zhajiang mian. The salmon avocado fried rice was the least memorable. It wasn't bad, but we probably would another something else next time. Overall, we really enjoyed Dumpling King and would come back again!

We visited Dumpling King on 2/17 to celebrate the Lunar New Year and were honestly just grateful they were open. The place was absolutely slammed. The energy felt festive, but be warned: it was very cold inside despite the packed dining room. A few staff members were even wearing parkas, so definitely bring a jacket if you're dining in during the winter. I went with three friends who took the lead on ordering. They give you a laminated menu, and you use a dry-erase pen to make your selections. Overall, the food was fine. We shared BBQ pork bao and several varieties of dumplings, which hit the spot for a celebratory meal. The cucumber salad turned out unexpectedly sweet, but we repurposed the sauce as a dip for our dumplings, which actually worked surprisingly well. The standout for me was the *Wor Wonton Soup*: comforting, flavorful, and exactly what you want on a chilly night. The biggest downside was the pacing. There were long gaps between dishes, and our final three dumpling plates arrived at the same time as the check. With so many "dumpling"-named spots across San Francisco (thanks to that viral article making the rounds), expectations are high. And while this Clement Street location is convenient and lively, I wouldn't call it the best dumpling destination in the city. Still, for a festive night out during Lunar New Year, it got the job done.

I think I found my new favorite Chinese restaurant in the city!! Everything we had was soooo delicious and reasonably priced. I like the cozy dine-in experience and how you could watch and see how fresh the dumplings and noodles are made. Will definitely be going back and bringing my family and friends here. What we ordered: Shanghai soup dumplings, zhajianjmian fresh noodles, pan friend pork bao, ice bear green lychee, ice bead honey lemon Highly recommend!

Another fantastic visit to Dumpling King! This was my third time dining here, and I finally brought my parents along & they absolutely loved it. Everything from the juicy xiao long bao to the crispy pan-fried dumplings was on point. The Shanghainese stir-fried noodles and dry-fried chicken wings are a must here; so flavorful and satisfying. Also unlocked a new favorite today: their black sesame dessert buns was soft, nutty, and just the right amount of sweetness. The service was friendly and fast, and the food came out piping hot. It’s always such a treat to find a spot that’s consistently good, and Dumpling King never disappoints. Can’t wait to try more of the menu on my next visit.

Honestly, this place IMO is better than Dumpling Home in Hayes Valley. We walked in at 5:30, and food came super quickly. Everything we got was amazing. We got the Four Bao Special, Broccoli beef (cuts of beef were high quality), Shanghai soup Dumplings, Shumai (?) dumplings. SOOO GOOD. Our server Johnson was super nice and helpful in the ordering process. The atmosphere is cool as you can see the chefs making the food and it’s very clean. Bathrooms were very clean which is something I always look for!! 5 stars from me, will definitely be back.

Went here with a big group after a round at Presidio. Absolutely perfect spot! Pitchers of Saporro, dumplings immaculate, noodles absolutely delicious, the cumin lamb was reordered a few times but the creme de la creme was the salt and pepper pork chops. Will 100% go back to Dumpling King anytime I visit SF. Forgot to take pictures of the food because it kept coming out nonstop. Service was great and the food was scrumptious. Must go!
